IHey guys
I need some advice. I am from Ahmedabad , Gujarat and I recently got court married. I am in the process of changing my wifes’s surname. The first of her documents that needs the surname changed is the Aadhar card.
What I have come to know is the change of surname for my wife will not happen because the marriage certificate issued by the state governement does not align with the requirement given by the central government.
What the Aadhar officer said was “The names in the marriage certificate given to me does not have my and my wife’s full name in one line”. He has suggested me to go to a gazetted officer to get his verifiction which might take 30 days.
The other possible way that I tought was to reissue a new marraige certificate with the correct requirements , but to my dissapointment , the state governement officials said that they cannot do it as the software is tuned to work in particualr format, I was even ready to pay extra money if they wanted.
My goal over here is to reduce the time to get this done.
as I live out of India and I am here for about a month. Has anyone been in such a situation? If yes , can you please guide me to reduce this processing time . -
MAny class 1 officer etc. can provide a signed letter, and Adhar name can be changed on the basis of that

CDo not change the name, post marriage. This will be one of your biggest mistakes that you will regret for a long, long, long time.

CI’m talking from experience man. There is nothing more that I can tell. You can change the name and explore the problems that come with please go ahead.
