My Dad had purchased a roadside land in 2005 from a planter. My dad got to know later it was an agricultural land. Since we are not from agricultural family I’m not sure whether we can actually own this land. In 2015 the owner encroached our land and it was settled in court. The court granted injunction order. I’m so confused right now and my dad doesn’t want me to talk about this. Whenever I bring this topic he says he did a mistake and was not aware it was agricultural land and we can never be actual owners. I’m from Karnataka. Can anyone help

You may consider options such as applying for conversion of the land from agricultural to non-agricultural use
or
if there were any issues with the sale itself maybe misrepresentation of facts, fraud, or something similar filing a suit against the seller would be the viable option.
