February 15, 2025 at 11:11 amI reside in government quarters (NPCIL) and would like clarification on the noise regulations applicable within the premises. I enjoy listening to music at a moderate to high volume but always ensure that I play it only between **8 AM and 10 PM**, adhering to the permissible time limits under **The Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000**.A neighbour has raised concerns, specifically requesting that I lower the volume between **2 PM and 5 PM**, even though no other residents have expressed similar concerns. I would like to understand:
1. Are there any **specific noise level limits (in decibels)** that apply to residential quarters during the day?
2. Does the housing society or government quarters have any **designated quiet hours** (e.g., during the afternoon)?
3. If my music remains within legal noise limits, am I **obligated to lower the volume** based on an individual complaint?
I want to ensure that I comply with all regulations while balancing personal enjoyment and community harmony. Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to your response.
