Hey everyone, I’m not sure where else to ask this, but I really need some help.

So this happened recently — I was using a school computer in the lab and forgot to log out of my Google account. The next day, a classmate noticed it was still logged in, went into my Google Photos, and downloaded a lot (20-30 or even more than this) personal pictures of mine. He then sent them to himself using my own account.
He sent me a few on Instagram to show what he had done.

I feel super violated and honestly quite shaken. Those pictures were never meant to be seen or shared, and now I have no idea what he might do with them.

I do have some proof (screenshot of him sending me the image, and which computer it happened on). But I’m still a school student, so I’m not sure:

Can I report this as a cybercrime?

Should I go to my school authorities first or report it online?

Would I need a parent or adult to file a complaint?

Any help or advice would really mean a lot. I just don’t want this to go ignored.

No matter which option you choose, your parents will likely get involved.
So why not talk to your parents—or a guardian you trust—first, and then proceed in the way that feels right to you?
Schools and colleges often have a history of victim-blaming, and in this case, you also forgot to log out of your account, so be prepared for the consequences.

What kind of retaliation? Are you supposed to be scared of retaliation in even these matters that happen in schools? There is no need to be scared of anything here.

Oh saying “schools have a history of victim blaming so be prepared” didn’t mean that. Okay, what exercises do you suggest for her to be prepared for whatever you think.

Either you live under a rock or you’ve had a really bad day to be this salty.
In most cases, schools and colleges prioritize their reputation, and unfortunately, it’s usually the victims who suffer the most.
That’s why I advised OP to be prepared and stay mentally strong.
And that’s also the reason I suggested involving a guardian or a trusted elder.

(Also, how exactly did you come to the conclusion that OP is female?)

From “be prepared for retaliation” to “you need to be mentally strong” alright. Take my award you deserve it more.

I know she is a female because I don’t live under a rock.

You didn’t read what I said—you read what you wanted to argue with.
And assuming only females face bullying? Not very ‘woke’ of you, huh?

OP, if you’re reading this, just know—people like this will always exist.
They’re often hypocritical, rarely helpful, and quick to criticize even genuine advice.
They don’t offer solutions, just noise.
So be prepared. As you grow, you’ll learn to spot these types.

You might be a bit sceptical about involving your parents maybe because of the nature of the pic, but this can have a long term implication. Whatever those students have done is absolutely crime, and having the audacity to get back to you on Instagram, and maybe even use them to blackmail in future.

Talk to your parents, they’ll understand, they’ll talk to school authorities, and if they don’t take very strict action then definitely escalate the issue.

Probably they want to blackmail op that’s why they revealed pics to her.
Op should take strict action before they share those pics to everyone.

I made the same mistake of not informing my mom about something and it definitely backfired

If they share those pics randomly on some shtty sites, you get doomed…Don’t do anything yourself and talk with your parents about it first. They might get mad at you for a few days or weeks but they will sort things out

File a complaint as others suggested and also let the guy know you that you filed a complaint (even if you didn’t), so that he will be careful before using them for anything wrongful purposes.

Also, let your know school know about this and tell them you are planning on filing a cybercrime complaint against this, they tend to act quickly when they see school’s rep at stake.

You were foolish enough to login into your account through an untrusted device.. so congratulations.. play stupid games.. win stupid prizes .

Once your pix have gone to some other device/s . You absolutely lose control of the data…

Even if you do FIR.. take matter to school.. parents.. there is no guarantee your pix are not on some google drive or a 299 INR pen drive

I’m assuming you are in school, talk to your class teacher or HOD or the principal even to take the necessary steps. Also, please be careful and check twice or even thrice when you use public computers, make sure you keep separate IDs for school/work etc.

Inform your parents. Don’t worry , they won’t be mad at you but if you don’t they surely will someday when they get to know that you didn’t trust them when you needed them or were vulnerable. In such times, parents will go to any length to safeguard their children. They surely will handle this for you.
