        Good morning Reddit.

I’m stuck in a limbo with the very infamous COLIVE situation.

I booked a colive property and moved in on 5th February 2025. The rent was decided to be 18k for a studio like room.

Let me phrase the atrocious conditions that I was made to live in.

        • lift stopped working for 3 weeks (we lived on the 4th floor)

        • food was inedible and insufficient for anybody. Many times we had to order food from outside because it was just now enough and would get over.

•heat pump doesn’t work for 2 weeks. We had to take bath in cold water.

        • caretaker and property manager were helpful tho

Unfortunately I paid 18k as deposit with 3 months lock in.

The deal breaker tho is attached in the picture below.

        300 rs for soappp??????
        3000 for trashy food???

The total rent for march has come up to 24000.

How exactly am I supposed to continue living in this place?

Lawyers please help me understand if I can get my deposit back and how

I’m leaving the property today after living for 1 month.

Your solution would be to file a consumer case for deficiency of service.
          Start with a legal notice.

I’m staying in one of their Whitefield PGs and facing the same situation. I’m raising a notice period as soon as my lock in period ends this month.

And what the hell is this 300rs charge for soap?? The last time I checked I didn’t receive any? The customer service numbers don’t pick up my calls and one of my co tenants told me the other day that their Marathalli office is filled with people coming to complain every month. And they also don’t pay you back the security deposit apparently. He told me to leave without paying the rent to save on the deposit but I don’t want to be in any legal trouble as I’m planning to get a visa in a year’s time. And apparently the caretaker once told him that even if a tenant doesn’t pay a month’s rent they still make profit.

Please let me know if you’re taking any legal action, I want to do the same. And from the research I’ve been doing in Bangalore subreddits, they have been doing this and getting away with this for far too long.

I’ve been to their Marathahalli office 6 times in one month. They don’t bother picking calls on the automated phone number system. Made me wait for 2.5 hours for somebody to attend.

That’s what I’m scared about, I’ll be applying to study abroad soon and I’ve read about them sending legal notices though fake so I’m not sure if that’s going to affect anything.

They know that most people won’t go through the hassle of raising a case in court and all. Police are also of not much help apparently.

So i got them to get rid of the soap charges by raising a service request and dropping a one star review on google with screenshots of the bill. One of the property managers even called me to try and get me to delete the review. I didn’t.
