April 18, 2025 at 1:53 pmHi everyone,A few years ago, I was a student in Bangalore. During that time, someone stole some amount of money from my hostel room (it included foreign currency). I registered an FIR with the local police, and after some investigations, the thief was caught. Eventually, I recovered a part of the stolen money.
After finishing my studies, I moved to Germany for work.
Recently, I started receiving WhatsApp messages and calls saying that I need to appear in court in India regarding the same case. I was also sent a photo of a letter (court summons) over WhatsApp, which vaguely states that the court needs some more “details” from me and that a warrant *could* be issued if I donβt appear for future hearings.
Problem is β flying to India and back just for a brief court appearance would cost far more than the amount I recovered. Itβs simply not feasible unless absolutely necessary. What should I do in this situation?

Ask for a virtual presence, many courts allow it.
OR You will have to hire a lawyer who will visit on your behalf.-

April 18, 2025 at 2:18 pmHi, Thanks for the reply. I generally receive summons letter over whatsapp just a day before hearing. I don’t know whom to contact regarding virtual presence-
