Some fraudster has taken over my fatherโ€™s phone number through eSIM activation and has got access of his profile details like aadhar number, pan etc. I tried to deactivate his sim but Jio support is of no use, they deactivate the sim temporarily and fraudster is activating it again through customer support as he knows all the answers to CS queries.

Luckily we have no financial loss as of now as all digital transaction modes are deactivated on the bank accounts linked to that number.

I tried reaching out to 1930 ie cyber crime helpline but they said they canโ€™t do much until there is any financial transaction made by the fraudster.

I am clueless on how to get access to the phone number once again. Can someone help with this?

Yeah like the other redditor said, wouldn’t it require a OTP to activate/deactivate?

He impersonated my father with multiple phone calls, but my father is unable to recall if he has shared any OTP with anyone.

File an FIR in local police station pronto. If they dont register go to the DCP or SP who will be an IPS officer. Use that to block the esim on network. Inform all banks where KYC id given…ask them to block apps and get a new number on a dumb phone..to register with bank

Reach nearest JIO store and block the sim first

I have tried this multiple times with jio storeโ€™s help but he is activating it again through customer care as he has all the details. And jio is not blocking it permanently.

Got to sanchar saathi and go to Know Mobile Connections in Your Name. You’ll find this number under your father’s name. Disable the number for your own good.
