We are facing a complex family dispute over my late grandfather’s assets. He passed away a few years ago, and we’ve recently started looking into the financial and property matters. Here’s the situation in short:

My grandfather had 3 sons. My father is the eldest. One uncle (middle son) took my grandfather to live with him during his last years. The youngest son is unmarried and financially unstable.

My grandfather had multiple bank accounts, and in the main one, he had two nominees: my father and the middle uncle.

Since my grandfather’s death, the middle uncle has refused to cooperate or show any bank records.

The bank is refusing to disclose account balances, transaction history, or locker access info without both nominees being present.

We also suspect that during my grandfather’s final days (when he wasn’t mentally sound), the middle uncle may have manipulated or transferred some assets. He also holds the locker key and won’t reveal its contents.

We managed to obtain statements from one of the local banks, showing cash withdrawals by the middle uncle before and possibly after grandfather’s death.

The youngest uncle is unaware and wrongly thinks my dad took his share, while the middle uncle keeps him pacified by giving small amounts of money occasionally.

*We just want transparency to know what was in those accounts, what’s in the locker, and ensure equal distribution. We’re not trying to snatch anything unfairly.*

        Questions:
Is there any way to legally obtain account statements or transaction history without the other nominee’s involvement?

Can we freeze or inspect the locker through legal means to prevent asset hiding?

Can we use RTI or succession laws here? Or do we need to go to civil court?

What legal route would you recommend to claim or at least verify our rightful share?
