Deleting video after it backfires?

Asking for a friend

One of my friend (A) was along with her friend (B). A and B were going on two wheeler where A was driving and B was sitting on the back seat. B was recording a video on the phone.

Now their vehicle crashes into a car and it was their fault. It was clearly captured in the video. Now B immediately deleted the video and also from recycle bin. But the bystanders saw it. The police took away her phone.

Questions –
1. What B did – was it illegal? Also how much serious?
2. Can police recover the video? They do not have the password of the phone
3. Can police force B to give password of her phone?

Both scenarios of question 2&3 is possible,
Ask the police the connect if they wanna recover the video 🙂

How can 3 be enforced? Through court order or through force itself?

Through a court order. But courts have also held that a person should give biometrics if he/she is asked during investigation.
