Emegency! Might be admitted to psychiatric hospital against will!

My parents might be planning to admit me in a psychiatric hospital against my will because i lashed out last night due to personal issues. I did not cause any bodily harm to anyone but in the moment my dad’s spectacle broke.
Can they forcibly put me in a ward?
What action should i take now?
Currently they are outside, probably dealing with the professionals in this field.
Please help me out!

PS- i am an adult and unemployed and have no money of my own in case i have to take legal measures personally.

Try being calm and collected. That’s what they see first. Don’t give them reasons to justify putting you there. Be extremely calm. No matter what.

Alright, thank you. What else should i do during my psychiatric evaluation? They might make things up and then when i say no, they might say i am schizophrenic

All depends on your reactions. Be very calm kind and compassionate to people asking you questions. They’re just doing their job. Ask them questions in return too if you have any doubts regarding procedures. Tell them how your parents make you feel and if they should sit with you during evaluation to possibly root out problems on their end. But all in all be calm and you won’t be diagnosed schizophrenic

Just 1 question- if they do put me in a mental hospital, will it be right away(today/tomorrow) and for how long(more than a week?)?

You need to stay calm. No one will put you anywhere. Just don’t lose patience when you’re being evaluated.

I worked in mental health care centre for a short while, and no, they don’t diagnose anyone like that, that happens in movies…..

So, when you lash out you are kind of out of control. Plus you are unemployed. And then you can’t be on your own. So why an old parent want to be near you, when your next outburst can be crippling to them. Not against you, but realise you have more physical power. Please be useful. You can start by taking care of whatever you can take care of.

Will not work that way. Are you on any medication? Take it seriously. And my real life learning is that we had an employee’s wife suffering from mild Schizophrenia, stopped her medicines and one morning saw a killer in her bedroom, and self defended (yeah, it was her husband and she didn’t recognise him, and took away his life). So husband is gone, wife is behind bars, sufferer is their single daughter who lost everything.

Be serious, don’t ever lash out.
