What happens if a government employee takes leaves for two months for an emergency? So the thing is my friend’s wife is pregnant and both people from their side treats them like trash, my friend’s elder brothers threw him out of his family (his parents both expired long ago) as he’s a successful engineer and his brothers are some low wage employee so they outcasted him from the family and not even attended his wedding and his wife side relatives too treat her like trash so they both decided to live away from them as they don’t want to be dependent on them for the rest of their life.

They both live in a govt quarters but the thing is his wife is pregnant and no one is there for taking care of her wife after delivering her baby, he somehow got only 15 days paternity leave but after delivering the baby his wife will need someone to take care of her after her delivery from atleast 1.5 months. He’s looking for his cousins from his village to come and look after her wife but still no guarantee anyone will come so if he takes 2 months leave for her wife’s pregnancy and taking care of her after delivery is there gonna be a huge disciplinary action against him or not? Can be loose his job? Will there be a court case against him by his organisation??

There are many ways to take leave. First he can use his casual leaves and earned leaves. Second he can take medical/half pay leaves if he can arrange a medical certificate somehow for himself. Third he can apply for EOL (Extra ordinary leaves) for two months where he will not be paid for the said months. Nothing will happen if he keeps his office in the loop. Disciplinary actions are only taken in case u r not coming to the office without any intimation.

But the thing is it sounds good in theory but even in government jobs nobody gets leaves easily like earned leave casual leaves etc aren’t approved easily

Which department does he work in?In reality too it’s not tough to get leaves in the govt office. Perhaps u haven’t seen govt offices closely. Ppl choose govt jobs for stability only. The only scenario where u don’t get leaves easily if u have beef with seniors. If the office is adamant on not giving leaves directly then simply take one day leave and next day send an email that ur wife is pregnant and she needs extra care, there is no one to take care of her and her life will be in danger if she remains unattended and u need leave for 15 days. He may also request her gynaecologist to recommend complete bed rest for her wife and he should also send this recommendation to the office. Keep a copy of the said email. If email is not possible then send a letter thru the speed post and keep the receipt intact. Extend the leaves for 15 -15 days. If he does not have beef with his seniors then the office will simply first deduct the leaves from his account and if he does not have sufficient leave balance then his pay will be cut for the said period. He can take a leave for a maximum of 180 days. This period will not be deducted from his service period too. U can refer css leave rules for the same.

PSU’s have a different work culture so I can’t comment on that. But I don’t think anybody will deny leave on this ground for mere 02 months. I was in a govt bank earlier and one of the employee went ghost for one year and the bank let him rejoin without any penalty. He did not receive his salary for the said period. A govt job is hard to get but it is even harder to kick the employee out barring corruption and sexual harassment cases.
