I contacted a escort service and they made me payment 22k rupees as deposit and service fee. Then again they asked for police verification charges of 19500 then I got suspicious and called for refund now it’s been 4 hour’s and they are saying me to wait 24 hrs what should I do?? I have numbers payment details screenshots and everything

One thing you could do is to ask your bank to reverse the UPI transaction. Better do it within 4 hours.

They will temporary reverse it say for 1-2 months (their investigation takes time) and then they will close the matter and deduct that money saying it was an OTP based payment.
User themselves made payment for xyz reason so they can’t reverse it as this is user fault.

call 1930 and report cyber fraud

Register complaint on cyber website. Tell them that accused pretended to be from bank.

If you get call from cops after 24 hours, its scammer from same gang. So don’t worry. Scammers call victims pretending to be cops to extort more.

Complaint is good thing to do. But money he won’t be getting back. Happened to me as well lost xyz amount.
Bank will temp reverse it and in the end will deduct the amount saying user did OTP based txn they can’t do much on this.

Complain on 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in portal. Say that the caller pretended to be your friend and asked for money citing distress. The complaint will be forwarded to your concerned police district. They can help you get your money back, if it is still in the first 2-3 accounts.
Try it. No harm in trying.

Mobile phone numbers and bank account numbers can be fictiticious using VoIP and spoofing etc. respectively therefore the address and identity can be untraceable. I advise you to not to delay anymore by reporting this matter to the Police so that they will investigate and nab them before they vanish in thin air.
