CHi, I’m(20F) and It’s been 11 months since my brother’s(29M)marriage, and my sister-in-law(28F) has been homewreker and impulsive liar from the start. She made my mom (who lives 400 km away) break contact with my brother and forced me to leave our Pune flat so they could live alone even tho the flat is on my mother and late father’s name. We accepted her demands, but she still wasn’t happy.
Around Makar Sankranti, she insisted on going to our hometown but then threw tantrums, got unconscious, and made suicide threats. Her brother took her away then.
Later, she came back to Pune, took all her belongings, and left with her brother, telling my brother never to contact her again.
Now, a month later, the police called me (20F) and my mom (54F), saying she accused my brother of physically hurting her while leaving that flat and forcefully made her leave it and my mom of physically hurting her during Sankranti. She also filed a false complaint with our society authorities against me false claiming that she rang the bell and I didn’t open the door.
We have very little to almost no proof to defend ourselves.Questions:
1. How should we legally respond?
2. What can we do to protect ourselves from false claims?
3. What legal steps should we take now?
4. Am I safe? As I am a second year student, will this affect my future? -

1. You need to hire a lawyer, someone from the said police station limits who knows people inside police station.
2., Nothing can be done, it’s false allegations. This will be proved false in court which will take 1-2 years.

4.,No you are not safe. She can file any case against you and loop you in. You need to make sure you are not present where she is. Don’t allow her into your mom flat. If your mom is owner of the flat, make sure she is in the flat and ask your brother to live somewhere else. Don’t have a call with your bhabhi.

CYes we have hired lawyer and also I’m not living with her from last 5 months but my mom can’t come and live here bcz she is a gov. teacher at my hometown

EBy living I mean, get the wife out of house by using the logic that the flat is mom’s name.
If she ever comes back then use this logic, and once she comes tell your brother to move away from the property and live somewhere else for some time.
