March 9, 2025 at 5:43 amI fell for a sextortion scam where I was tricked into a video call. The scammer recorded a video of me, but my face is not visible—only my private parts. However, they do have:• Screenshots of my Facebook post likes (a small part of my friends list).
• Some WhatsApp and Facebook chat screenshots (nothing incriminating, but still concerning).
• Screenshots of our payment discussion and a small amount I sent before realizing it was a scam.
Once I realized, I blocked them everywhere and updated all my privacy settings. But I’m still anxious—should I be worried about them sending anything? Do scammers usually follow through, or do they move on?
Would appreciate any advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation. Thanks! (I am male. Incident happened 10 hours ago. Got messages in the midnight and again one message few mins back. I immediately blocked the message I got few mins back).

March 9, 2025 at 5:48 amAs long as your face isn’t visible, you can always say it’s fake in worst case scenario. My bet is they have moved on to their next victim. -

March 9, 2025 at 11:18 pmHey since your face is not revealed, chillax. If required disable all ur fb and WhatsApp if they have access to it and can post stuff. Also tell ur friends that ur profiles are being hacked if they receive any message. Don’t inform them before , only if they receive any message or content from scammers.
If there is any relative or friend who can keep secrets, you can inform him and try to resolve mental panic. They might help you calm down and can help you in taking proper decisions. But only if they are trustworthy and capable enough else you are enough.
Think about any details you have shared with them which can be used to identify/doxx you. Prepare a countermeasure for it. If none then approach police( cybercell). If you have any contact there then good.
Mental panic causes issues, so don’t fall for it, be calm and assess and thwart any threats proactively.
