        For context
My sis lives away and occasionally visits her friend(F) when the PG doesn’t feel good. The friend has a brother who was friendly at first but recently started acting suspicious of her and after a long commotion, left the house but insisted on removing bed light in his sister’s room. After he left, an electrician inspected and found a Camera and microphone in the socket without memory card which mostly means it’s live. This is found in the sister’s bedroom where even my sister stays whenever she visits.

The camera needs power supply to check what’s in it but we’re afraid to put it in the socket as it might short-circuit the thing. There is a high chance he has been watching live from phone to monitor her friends but there is a high chance he might have taken some screenshots or recorded something from the live.

        How do I proceed?

Constraints: My family doesn’t know about the camera part and would be really catastrophic if they get to know it. The sister’s friend’s family knows it and is going to confront him regarding that but I’m not sure if they will find anything.

Yes, some sort of network is needed to show live. To turn it on we need to connect it to power supply but we are not sure if it will affect the setup and burn it due to high voltage or current from normal sockets.

If you can post pictures of the setup – we can find information that might help you confront him

NAL, OP if you can upload a picture of sort of model number or anything I can guide you on how to power it safely, if it’s live I don’t think there will be anything stored on the camera but you can use the router history to see which server he was using to stream the feed and can gather evidence from there if the access is open. Hope the sick bastard gets what he deserves.

Long commotion? Started acting suspicious of her? Was his sister being led astray by her friends? I doubt you have shared all relevant info. Makes zero sense that the camera was left in a socket waiting to be discovered when he can be identified as the culprit. Makes zero sense that the camera was not powered on if the intent was to spy.

This guy is an outright creep or there is more to this story that you are unaware of or have declined to share. You can choose to file a case but there are too many loopholes in what you have shared so the more realistic chance of justice is whatever the cops can do (as opposed to a judge). NAL.
