May 7, 2026 at 10:03 amI have been getting calls about a friend in college who took loan from mpokket and now they somehow have my number and are harassing me saying me to connect to him , i have informed them numerous times that i am not in contact with that person and i donβt know him now still they are calling me . Also they have been constantly saying that i have been put as referral person for that loan but neither have i received any mail or message for the same or even my friend has not asked me about itI dont know what kind of legal action can i take on this so need help with this ?

May 7, 2026 at 10:07 amYour friend gave access to all his contacts while signing in for that app. Now they’re calling random friends and relatives to get back that money.You have no obligation and nothing to do with that loan.
Next time they call, poori bhadas nikal lo uspe, abuse as much as you want.

May 7, 2026 at 10:27 amRecovery agents calling third parties and pressuring them to track down a borrower is a known abuse that RBI has specifically prohibited – you have a clear path to shut this down.The first thing to do is file a written complaint directly with mPokket’s grievance officer (every regulated lender must have one under RBI guidelines) stating the dates and times of every call, what the agents said, and the fact that you never consented to being listed as a referral. Give them 30 days to respond. If they ignore you or the calls continue, escalate to the RBI Banking Ombudsman through the Sachet portal at [sachet.rbi.org.in](http://sachet.rbi.org.in) – this is free and you don’t need a lawyer. RBI’s Fair Practices Code and the 2008 Guidelines on Collection of Dues explicitly bar agents from contacting anyone other than the borrower and authorised guarantors, and a referral you never agreed to does not make you a guarantor.
On the criminal side, register a complaint at your local cybercrime station or on cybercrime.gov.in. Repeated calls intended to intimidate or annoy you can attract action under telecom harassment provisions, and the TRAI has a Do Not Disturb registry complaint mechanism as well.
No case on closely matching facts came up in the curated database, but the RBI complaint route above is the primary mechanism victims of recovery harassment use to get relief – and it has teeth because the Ombudsman can direct the lender to pay compensation.
Keep a call log with timestamps, any WhatsApp messages the agents sent, and a screenshot showing your number was never on the loan documents.
