April 10, 2025 at 2:44 pmAs title saysMe and my now wife got married in our hometown and moved to a different state for work.
We got married exactly 2 months ago and have all proofs like wedding card and marriage photos.
Is it possible to apply and get marriage certificate in our current City instead of going to city of Marriage ?
TIA

April 10, 2025 at 5:22 pmThis is for registered marriage under special marriage act where the marriage registrar solemnises the marriage. But OPโs marriage is already solemnised so they cannot get married again. They need to register the marriage under Hindu marriage act with the local municipal office. It can be registered in local office where either party resides no matter where the marriage took place.-

April 10, 2025 at 6:56 pmI told for same case. Marriage already happened but op needs marriage certificate. To get this you need local address proof. Also, you need witnesses and other marriage proof. I also got mine in a similar situation, where marriage happened in different state but marriage certificate is obtained in another state.-

April 10, 2025 at 5:25 pmSince you are already married you have to register your marriage with the local municipal office and not the marriage registrar. As per my knowledge it can be registered wherever either parties reside. Ask a local agent , you will need to submit marriage proof (invitation card, marriage photos) as well as local address proof (usually Aadhaar card or they may accept leave and licence agreement also)
