UA little bit of context about this travel agency: Last year we found this TA while traveling to Ooty. The guy who handled it is Sharan(our scammer) and his company is named Prestige Wanderers so we trusted him this time as well and asked him to arrange a stay and transport to Kodaikanal.
We approached him and asked him to do the needful, but this time he didn’t share any legit details and pricing of any stay options and transport and kept sharing photos of various hotels and stays without names and location. red flag. But we ignored knowing he already did a good job last year.
Then one afternoon he called us literally 20 times to confirm 2 homestays within 1 hour as it’s up for auction (can’t believe we fell for that) and he needs to pay 5k to book them right then and there or we will lose that property and again given the past records we gave in and paid him 5k.
Even after 2/3 days when he didn’t share any invoice we started following up but no response. we were worried but there was still some hope since he’s a one man company and might send it. then ha came back for transport and demanded 3.7k and another 3k to finish the deal with stays and we paid. then he stopped picking our calls and kept texting in WhatsApp that he’s working on it.
Then when we asked him about the transport we told him we are yet to book it from Bangalore to Kodaikanal he told us he has a bus agency which is going to cost us just 9k we told we were interested and again he called us 20 times to pay the complete amount book it ASAP and we paid there as well.
So we basically paid him 20.7k and didn’t receive any invoice just WhatsApp chat confirmation that everything is ready.
this was done one week before the trip and then he completely ignored our calls, once in a while text saying he’s busy taking other trip groups and his mother being sick.
Till the day of travel we were ready and he was texting that he’s gonna send bus details and switched off his phone around 10PM and we just stayed at home feeling like ducking losers.
Is there anyway we can get the money back from him?
he hasn’t blocked us yet and when threatened with legal action he said “go ahead”.
