I just found out that someone close to me had a surgery done incorrectly in Kilpauk govt hospital. Sheโ€™s really young and her life is in severe danger because of this. The wrongful surgery has been corroborated by other senior doctor from another hospital. We are all really upset because she was supposed to get better but instead sheโ€™s losing her life. Re surgery is an option but itโ€™s expensive at 8 lacs and she works as a maid.. Not only that, she has a 50-50 chance only.

What happened was she was supposed to get her gall bladder removed but sheโ€™s had a lot of her liver removed. It took them so long to find out why she has been getting worse instead of better ever since the surgery.

All of her family is very very poor and arenโ€™t very educated. I am asking on behalf of the family as to what could be the next steps. Any advice legal or not would be greatly appreciated.

A complaint should be made to the Hospital Superintendent first, after which you should start further process by engaging a lawyer – you may have the option of complaining to the Consumer Forum for compensation and before the Medical Council of India as well.
