February 21, 2025 at 10:07 amI am 16M and I participate in Youth Parliaments and debate events frequently. For your context, I’m from Rajasthan and I got to know about an event happening in BHU, Varanasi.
This happened about July 2024.
I got to know about this and with the discussion of my school authority and teachers, I participated in the event which had a participation fee of βΉ800 which I paid and it had an accomodation fee of βΉ2500 which I also paid through UPI. This event was scheduled to happen on 3rd and 4th of August.
Now on 1st August, I got the news of the event being cancelled due to unknown reason and their PR Head contacted and told me that my participation fee will be refunded within a week. After approximately 2 months of reminders, I received my βΉ800.
After that I asked for my accomodation money which is still not returned to me. Their PR Head told me several times that it will be returned to me after some time and then shared the contact of their main head (Secretary General) who managed all their work.
I texted him in December and he told me that he’ll return my money as soon as possible as he was having his exams at that time. Then I texted him again after almost 20 days, on 25th December asking for my money but he gave no response.
Shall I call him and warn him of a police case? Or is there any other way to get my money back from him?

February 21, 2025 at 10:29 amPractically speaking,Β before all that, consider going back to the brochure of the event. Having been a part of organising college events myself, there’s generally one or more professors who are in charge of the committee running these events, even if they don’t actively participate in organising. Contact them directly, or contact the university office, and let them know what happened and that xyz student has stopped responding to your requests. Ask them to help you with it. Make sure you detail everything in writing as well. Hope the UPI amount was paid to some official account and not to the student’s personal account. Include transaction details.-

OP
February 21, 2025 at 10:31 amWell the PR Head told me that it’s the account of the student (secretary general) and not someone else, that’s why I directly contacted him, but I’ll still contact their teacher. Thanks for the info buddy, later on, if I still don’t get any response, then I’ll warn him that I’ll file an FIR against him. If he still doesn’t respond, then I’ll file a case against him.

February 22, 2025 at 4:51 pmIdeally, account should have been something the uni/ professors have some control over too. Since it’s a personal account, your only option is to convince this guy. Hopefully the uni and professors will help you out.-

OP
February 23, 2025 at 4:31 amI got to know that the uni isn’t supportive at all, even the professors are money minded and only they only want money πAnd the money is in the account of that guy only, I’ll call him again today and I’ll ask him for my money
