UIt’s a rumor only, and not at all sure if true. Only wanted to know if anyone else heard the same rumors, or if this is fake.
Apologies if wrong group/wrong.
Hear a disturbing rumors that a lot of to-be deported Indian women in America are seeking to meet immediate financial requirements (edu loans to be exact) by filing false cases / misuse laws against their exes. Esp the exes from colleges, jobs, and the usual pub meets. To extort money to repay loans.
Is this true? What can we do to protect ourselves from fake cases?
I’m not talking about genuine cases, as that’s not the topic here.

SThey were “illegal immigrants” by breaking the laws. Not exactly someone whom you’d consider to have a moral compass. So if your question is can they do it or will they do this, offcourse they would.
What can you do about it, NAL. there’s very few preemptive options(if any). The only thing you can do is, to fight it on the facts once the case is filed.

The guys I overheard it from were also arguing with the same point of the moral compass.

CIndian law provides safeguards against false cases, including perjury (Section 191 & 193 IPC) and punishment for false complaints (Section 211 IPC).
Courts take strict action against false cases, and no one can simply “extort” money without legal proceedings, evidence, and due process.
Instead of spreading unfounded rumors, if you truly want to discuss legal rights, focus on actual cases with verifiable facts rather than perpetuating sexist narratives.-

Today Supreme Court squashed a PIL regarding dowry and domestic violence laws. -

The real disturbing thing here is the kind of company you are keeping that you are believing such bullshit. It’s actually disturbing that people are dumb enough to fall for this.
Its not too late. If you got this rumor from a friend, drop that person as a friend. If you got it from a WhatsApp group, just leave the group. No need to tell the idiots in the group to fuck off and all incase they come after you. Just leave and save yourself.
Its highly disturbing but if you manage to do the above things, you can save yourself
