I find that if you look online you only find a bunch of services that allow you to choose and select a lawyer as an independent service.

Google best lawyers – it becomes unaffordable.

People say – go outside a court and find someone which is a hit and a miss.

How does the upper middle class find a good lawyer or a law firm that helps deal in a variety of matters.

        Thanks in advance

PS If it helps – location Is Hyderabad but general advice also recommended.

That’s the neat part, you don’t. The profession works on word of mouth.

With that being said, here I am πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‚

Not all lawyers/ advocates are the same (as in any other profession). Focus on the one who deals with the specific kind of cases exclusively or mostly. The specialization in one of the fields (e.g. Divorce, Property, Criminal, etc.) is a result of years of practice in that field. There is no need to get any specialized education for that field. You can check the number of cases filed by them through the e-courts portal to have more insight into their practice.

You can also take advice from the ones who have gone through a legal proceedings and find out if they were satisfied with that lawyer.

When you are consulting for the first time, be very attentive to see if he can handle the case by himself, speaks about the fees upfront (no surprises later), sounds knowledgeable, patiently listens to your issues, doesn’t restrict you with the time limit while consulting, etc.

**Disclaimer:** In the absence of all the facts of the case, the comments given may not be the best solution for your case. One on one consultation with a legal counsel/ advocate is advised to get better guidance.

One way is to actually go to the courts where your matter will be heard and see which lawyer does the judge listen to.

You can easily from body language filter out the bad or less professional lawyers.

This is not a foolproof method but a decent start.

You could also speak to the court clerk and ask them if they can recommend someone.

After all it’s all about who the lawyer knows in India.
