UStory of a friend X (32f) who’s been married since 5 years to her husband Y (34m) and has a daughter (4f).
X comes from a bpl family, and hardly had any extra money to spent during her childhood, that trauma resulted in her being overprotective of her money. She works in IT and her investments are around 3cr, she has 2 flats worth 3cr too, and 8 plots of lands worth 3ish cr, she also has several gold sets. Not entirely sure, but her total worth is around 10 CR.
It was an arrange marriage and despite her denial she was married to this “businessman”. She always said that businessman are risky and the first thing they do is loan out their wives gold jewelry. She has always been against that considering it’s so damn hard to buy gold these days and will be harder in the future. She quickly fell preloans after the marriage due to family pressure.So the guy ran a cattle feed business, it went down. Frankly from a 3rd perspective I think he lacks the skill, he used to let people borrow lakhs on lakhs of feed and asked them to pay back meekly like once or twice. This continued for 3 years and he lost the business. Next thing he did, sold X’s jewelry worth 60-70 lakhs. She has been silently holding a grudge against the entire family, cuz they forced her to. Cuz despite earning more, she has carried the burden of household chores too, that too silently and now has to sell her gold which she did not got from her father. So anyways the next business went down in flames too (tire business ), and the guy managed to get several lakhs of loan on his head.
Family is pressuring her to sell off her 1 or 2 plots, to pay back the loans, it is around 90lakhs (how do you even manage that), but she is reluctant, cuz she knows he has other business plans too and will start those again right after this gets sorted out.The familial stuff will be handled by her and isn’t the major issue. She wants to know that does it becomes her responsibility to pay back those loans, she did not sign anywhere, and those are majorly business and personal loans under his name. But the recovery agents has been hassling even her too on the phone. And when they come to their home, they start dragging her as well saying you work in IT (how do they know), why don’t you pay it.

WMoney matters less if husband and in-laws are good people.
But it’s actually sad to drain out your hard earned money whilst also being villan in eyes of in-laws.-
UThe family is good, atleast from my perspective and she never complained about anything. But she has already lost 60ish lakhs earlier and now 90L. That’s a whopping 1.5 CR total. Plus she’s sure her husband will not stop in future. And they also keep on forcing/nudging her to sell off her land. Not like “you’re a bad bahu, you should be ashamed” but more sweetly like “please beta, he’s in trouble, he’s in depression, please do it for your child’s father etc etc”.

Gstrange case to be in. if she is not ready to bail out her husband, she should immediately file for a divorce. what is the point in such a marriage.

UCan’t divorce right now like I said in another comment. Their child is sick, the doctor has said to not even raise their voices near her. They are keeping the debt thing away from her, not like she’s going to understand much.

SImagine, she graduated at 22. 10 Cr in 10 years doing IT job is crazy and look top good to be true.
