April 12, 2025 at 5:10 pmMost queries here end with asking op to find a good lawyer. But how does one find a lawyer for a civil/criminal etc case ? Is there any transparency in their fees, track record and so forth ? How does one go about finding a lawyer ? -

April 12, 2025 at 6:36 pmWe have more reviews of toothbrushes on Amazon than reviews of school, teacher, lawyer, doctor who make life changing decisions of people. How to device a system like that which doesn’t end up being hijacked or biased is Noble prize winning problem. -

April 12, 2025 at 7:16 pmAs a lawyer, I suggest you talk to the lawyer and go with your gut. Thereโs no right way to do this. -

April 13, 2025 at 5:07 amOP I understand your issue. See the thing is the Bar Council of India guidelines do not permit lawyers to advertise. Since it is considered to be a โnobleโ profession, we cannot make adds to promote our work / ourselves. So in order to select a good lawyer, you have to rely on word of mouth. Then you have google. A lot of judgements of the courts are now digitised and uploaded in the vastness of the internet. Letโs say someone says Ms. XYZ is a good lawyer for property disputes, you google that person. Youโre are likely to come across their judgements / appearances / cases they argued online. Then you read that and make an informed decision. This will also help you assess their track record.
I hope this helps you.
