SHey Good people just wanted an advice over the thing. I was challaned for driving a bs4 car in November last year in gurugram. I was not in india for a while and had no idea about the bs4 ban on the cars. I was going home to my state when a police officer fined me. My license has been digitally impounded too. Just wanted an advice if i need to pay the whole of it or should i hire a lawyer.

MMy BSIII Diesel car registration expired a few weeks ago and I was able to renew it up to 2030 (5 years at a time). This is in Andhra Pradesh.

AYeah, people don’t realize that Delhi NCR was just the testing ground on the basis that it had higher pollution.
The only reason they are getting away is because they know that car ownership, taxation, and related laws affect only around 7-8% of the total population. Out of these, business owners are less affected because they get depreciation and Input tax benefits. So at the end of the day, only middle class salaried citizens end up bearing the brunt of such retarded schemes and they have neither the time nor the means to organize protests and fight the system.
Even without doing any research I am willing to bet that replacing each and every car every 15 years has a much higher environmental impact than allowing them to run as long as they are within emission norms that can be set and enforced instead of this arbitrary time based obsoletion.

They’ll outlaw driving old cars under the garb of pollution just like they are doing with wood. Before it was planned obsolescence, now it’s timed obsolescence. Shouldn’t be shocked if electronic items automatically trip off after a few years without any updates, just coded in at a lower level.
They want a rental economy according to the design by lord klaus. A forever consumption based economy with UBI.

Firstly, try to settle the challan amount in Lok adalat which will be held/conducted on 10th May 2025. But the token/ticket for lok Adalat will be released beforehand and only if, you secure the token will you be able to participate in lok Adalat, so plan accordingly.
Secondly, Ignorance of law is no excuse is settled principle of law.
Thirdly, you don’t necessarily need a lawyer/advocate for the lok Adalat. You can very well represent yourself before lok Adalat, but if you don’t want the hassle involved in the process, you should approach a lawyer to smooth out and expedite the process.
