QPlease pay your rent for the time you stayed there. You can’t scam people by taking 50% discount for bad service randomly like you are a King. As far legal implications, he probably won’t do anything. If he did, I’m not sure our police force has enough time to track people down for silly half month rent from a 19 year old.

MLawyer here. He cannot file any FIR against you as it is a pure civil dispute. Don’t worry. It is unlikely that he will file a case for such meagre amount.

PWhy wont he? AFAIK if the landlord files a suit, OP will have to come back to Kota to attend the hearings. Further, landlord can ask for compensation as well as make OP pay the legal fees of landlord’s lawyer as well. Not a lawyer

MLandlord can ask for compensation but the landlord needs to prove how he actually ncirred loss to ask for compensation. Its not easy to get compensation in Indian Courts.

MNo. At the highest court will order a general legal costs and not the amount actually incurred by the landlord towards its lawyer fees. Also all these things are a matter of topic which would take 8-10 years. So relax nothing will happen.

MAs a Lawyer I can only answer as per legality and not morality. He has mentioned that Landlord provided poor services to a student. Consider that also into Morality.

Landlord not gonna have the time to do anything about it beyond lodging police complaint and sending u legal notice to rattle u. Unless he’s super litigious and actually pursues this in court, u have nothing to worry about. But please pay it, I’m sure the stress of receiving a legal notice and actually judging bro’s intentions are more expensive than paying off the guy. Peace of mind is top
