I want to add surname in aadhar card and passport for Visa

I applied for a visa but got rejected because my passport only has a single name. Therefore, I am in the process of adding the surname “Tiwari” to my name and applying for a new passport with the updated name, with Gazette notification as I don’t have any other documents with surname in it.

How many days will it take to update in aadhar with gazzete notification please share your experience if you have gone with similar process?

You’d need an affidavit from first class magistrate to get the gazette publication and then the newspaper publishing the same. This should take just 1 or 1.5 week i think.

Then you book appointment at aadhar seva kendra and submit name change application. Now this may take around 1 month to get updated. Then you can use e aadhar. It’s useless to wait for physical aadhar delivery as it is all luck and can take multiple months for delivery.
