January 24, 2025 at 7:10 pmHello everyone. I need this answer a bit urgently. I’m 27 and live with my mother, who is currently getting a family pension from MCD after my dad died before he could retire. I face a lot of abuse, both mental and physical, from both my mother and my younger sister. I have thought of “running away” many times, and I have finally decided I will do so. Would my mother be legally able to drag me back home or claim my possessions saying she bought them if I do? My mother is not a senior citizen and would still have my sister as a dependant. I just want to know if she will be able to drag me back home even if I do not want to. -

January 24, 2025 at 7:54 pmLegally, she can’t drag you. With regards to possession, if you have a valid receipt or any validation of them being yours, you’re good to go.
Non-legal advise, no problem is big enough to abandon a mother. But you can ignore this if the problem is (more than) big enough.-

January 24, 2025 at 8:50 pmI think my own mental health comes first here. I have lost my dad too. I had stayed with her, knowing I can easily live on my own, just to show support. Where does my well being come into the equation, if all I receive in return is abuse? My mother’s abuse has been an issue since my childhood. I think it’s high time I get out of that cycle.
