March 16, 2025 at 7:51 pmHi everyone,I need some help regarding a concerning situation with ICICI Bank.
I had requested a replacement for my existing ICICI credit card, but it was not delivered because the address on file was my old office address. Recently, I received a call from a mobile number claiming to be an ICICI Bank employee. The caller mentioned they were following up on the undelivered credit card and offered to update my address.
When I asked for identity verification, the caller was able to confirm several personal details—including my permanent address—that are only associated with my ICICI Bank account. I provided my new address, and shortly after, I received an OTP. At this point, I became suspicious and started recording the call. I specifically asked the caller to clarify what the OTP was for, and they confirmed it was to authorize the address change for my replacement card, not for a new application.
However, as soon as the call ended, I received an email stating that I had applied for a new Rubyx credit card, which was issued within 15 minutes. I immediately contacted ICICI Bank and requested them to close the card, which they have confirmed is now canceled.
I am concerned that my personal information may have been misused, and I want to understand if I can take legal action against the bank or the individual involved. What steps should I take next to protect myself and hold the responsible parties accountable?
Any guidance on how to proceed legally would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

March 16, 2025 at 8:25 pmDon’t worry OP. As long as your credit card has not been activated, there’s no harm to your CIBIL and credit score. And as far as your *privacy* is concerned, the bank employees already have access to your data. Not much you can do. You can write an elaborate and crass e-mail to the customer service team highlighting this issue. But don’t expect more than a half assed apology.
