February 2, 2025 at 1:13 pmI’ve wrote a comprehensive anonymous letter to most senior in our office (which I’ve not sent yet). He has created very hostile environment in our section. Everyone is unhappy with him. But nobody complains because of fear of loosing their govt job.
The atmosphere is really affecting my personal and professional life both.
He use humiliating language, unnecessary Minor correction in files, shouting in front of colleagues, cancelling leaves etc. Some colleagues even joking have said that they have suicidal tendency due to him.Although I’ve not any solid proof but if anyone enquire privately. , almost all colleague will speak about him.
May be this way he becomes little humble. I don’t know if I’m doing right.

February 2, 2025 at 1:22 pmI’m little scared about sharing more information. I’ve no other sources of income in my family. Thinking a lot for past days if i should do it or just accept the environment. I’ve not been able to do anything even in my free time due to this.

February 3, 2025 at 7:51 amunlikely. even if you are group ‘C’, a full fledged proceeding will take place that too for a grievance misconduct. In most cases, one will be slapped with a censure or withholding of increment.complaints are part and parcel of central government offices. anonymous will be ignored mostly.

February 2, 2025 at 1:24 pmIf it is regular post mail, post it from a location that you don’t go normally. If it is email, go to a cyber centre far away and use VPN. Also make sure your language in the letter is different than how you usually write etc so they don’t trace it back.-

February 2, 2025 at 1:29 pmIf higher officers will also not take this seriously i may be in danger. Because my senior has almost 10 employees under him and only 3 4 can write proper letter. It’ll not be difficult to find me if it will backfire me.-

February 2, 2025 at 1:30 pmJob security of state and central government employees is top notch in india. One cannot just fire you from your government job unless you’ve done some heinous crime. At most you will get a few days/weeks of suspension. As for how to deal with your abusive senior, if you want to write an anonymous complaint about him, make sure to do so in a way that he doesn’t know that you wrote it. But the best scenario here would be to include all of your co-workers who are fed up of him and collectively file a complaint. It will definitely be more effective. Convince them.-

February 2, 2025 at 1:59 pmThese rats have the mentality of a criminal or a rapist. It is unlikely that he will take time out to read your mail. Even if he does, trust me, he will be proud of himself. You are giving him the one thing he wants, confirmation that he has made someoneβs life miserable. That will just reinforce his behaviour.Anonymous complaints are not worth the server space they occupy. If you are a girl, lodge a written complaint with a senior lady officer. That is the only thing that can set him right if we are lucky. In many cases even that doesnβt work!

February 2, 2025 at 2:03 pmKnowing sarkaari office working (and I have experience dealing with them via govt tenders etc), all anonymous complaints are promptly ignored. Indian govt departments think they are the most effecient and any anonymous complaints are ‘mischief’ designed to impact the almighty ‘morale’ of the most effecient govt dept in the world.
So unfortunately someone would have to bite the bullet and make a complaint under their name -

February 2, 2025 at 2:04 pmWhat can your senior do? He will at max get you transferred to a different section or location?I don’t think there is anything like performance metrics involved as the promotions are purely based on seniority. Initiating disciplinary action requires a higher authority to approve the same and then a proper enquiry before award of a penalty.
Are you worried about transfer or is there anything else your senior can do? Please clarify.

February 2, 2025 at 2:55 pmEven by rule he can make extreme work pressure on me. Something he gives very difficult tasks which needs proper training to new employees deliberately so they make mistakes. He put it in file work and humiliate them. These are few of his tactics.-

February 2, 2025 at 4:48 pmJust make sure to you save your skin by being safe on paper. Example – Making it clear that you don’t have sufficient experience to handle the task, showing that you have put your efforts and asking for written orders if necessary.ΒSuch steps will save you if something you did reaches enquiry stage.Β
The tantrums can be ignored as they don’t have any significance in your career.Β
If you have a union, try discussing this issue with them.Β

February 2, 2025 at 2:10 pmPlease check the process for bringing up such issues in your workplace. Check with other senior officials you know or worked with personally, on how to handle such things.
Typically bureaucracy loves to punish it’s own without there being any official record. -

If it’s about work environment, then you’re very unlucky, I am yet to come across any mechanism for reporting seniors that doesn’t risk a boomerang πͺ…
If writing an email, then direct it to a Bunch of the top of the top brass and bulk send to all of them including your boss’s boss and local GM in the loop….
Use disposable email id and a VPN….. -

February 2, 2025 at 3:22 pmWithout tangible evidence, it will be difficult to get anything to change. If he is a high performer and the seniors like him, then any investigation may be unyielding. SEBI employees did that against the Chairman – and despite the hostile circumstances around, not much happened. -

February 2, 2025 at 4:05 pmAs per the policy, anonymous complaints are not entertained and no action is to be taken. Since, you are a government employee, first assess that what you are feeling is whether emotional or factual. If it is factual, then take up your complaints as per the grievance redressal mechanism of your department. -

February 2, 2025 at 4:43 pmI was in a similar position. Moulded a situation in office where I knew he will lose his cool and then proceeded to have a small fight with him during an important VIP visit.
He got an earful once he escalated the issue as it was not important considering the VIP visit.Soon, I was transferred without any memo/warning/letter. Life has been good since then.

February 3, 2025 at 1:38 pmGovt departments don’t act on anonymous complaint. Further, if you don’t have any evidence and nobody else is going to testify then surely you are digging your grave. Just get a thick skin or get transferred from that palce or proceed on a sick leave. As the proverb goes ‘ pani me rahkar magarmach se bair’, it’s risky for you to complain.
Try some innovative ideas either to please him so that he alters his behaviour or else to piss him but covertly.
