        Hello Everyone,

        I 36M, was married in 2019 to my college friend. Soon after marriage my wife’s parents started staying with us in the rented room in Bengaluru. When covid hit, things took an ugly turn due to her mom’s regular interference and commenting on me and I left Bengaluru started staying with my parents in my hometown. Over a call she said about mutual divorce due to compatibility issue. My dad got stroke in 2023 and she never visited or called. The wife and her parents stopped taking our calls since. I slipped into severe depression since trouble began in my married life and eventually left my job in August last year. I am jobless since and feeling lost in life. My parents spoke to a local lawyer once in 2023 and he suggested to wait for two years since the last interaction with my wife which would end in Feb 2025. Does it matter as per the law if we are separated for more than 2 years and I am unemployed?

        I am living in a state of confusion from the last 5 years as to whether I am a bachelor or married and lost motivation to work and find a new job, eat, enjoy, etc. I am living off my tiny savings so far which will get exhausted soon. Kindly advice what should be my next step to clear off this cancer from my life. I am too much scared after the recent death of Atul Subhash. I feel I am going in the same direction.

        Some facts:

        * Marriage place: Jharsuguda, Odisha
        * Wife’s current location: Bengaluru, Karnataka
        * Wife’s hometown: Jharsuguda, Odisha
        * My hometown: Ranchi, Jharkhand

        Please let me know if you need any additional information to suggest me a course of action. How much should I be ready to shell out from end to end in the legal process?

              This is irrelevant. If she is willing for divorce then file a mutual divorce as you are legally married.

                  She’s blocked our numbers. There’s no way to ask her what she plans to do. She’s just wasting both our time. I’m confused as to if I should send a legal notice to her and she’d press false charges against me.

                          Looks like she is trying to put her up in the market as never married

                          So instead of divorcing she is just avoiding you
