I have been living in a rental property having 9 flats. We do not get PAN number from the owner. We do have a rental agreement though. He has multiple properties in the area. Must be earning 10-15 lakh per month easy. I doubt he pays the due tax on them. I only have his phone number and photo. What do I do to report him ? For reference : my rent is 20k. Also , does this come under income tax fraud or not ? If they go to him and he is found not guilty of fraud , will action be taken on me ? Please help.

Income from rental property is liable to be taxed. Are you paying Cash as Rent for the property? If he isn’t reporting that rental income, then he will be penalized surely for tax evasion. Don’t worry, whistleblower isn’t liable to any charges if the IT Department doesn’t find anything

Then most probably he would be reporting the transactions already. Still you can try and complaint if you want to. Who knows if he isn’t reporting that as Income.

I tried asking him to give PAN so I can claim HRA in my organisation. He said that mujhe pakka bill dikhana padega. 18% gst lagega. So rent ka 18% amount extra do.

Then pay 18% extra and ask for the bill? Rents like PG are GST chargeable.

He should include that in rent itself like all owners do. Why am I liable to pay for his tax fraud ?

And ultimately youโ€™ll have to pay that right.

Claims half of it. 1 lakh tak tumhe proof dikhane ki zarurat nahi h for HRA. If you asked this question, Iโ€™m guessing tumhe ye nahi pata tha and kr bhi nahi rhe the..
