Indian citizens got married in USA – how to register marriage in India?

  Hello!
  
  My husband and I got married over a year ago in the USA. We are both Hindus and having our religious ceremony in India soon. How do we register our marriage in India? Can we show our USA marriage license and will that be recognized?
  
  I looked online but every website has a different answer. Should we ask a lawyer to help us?

  I got married in Seychelles and had apostilled the marriage certificate. Took it to the Indian embassy and they made a note of it with an Indian embassy stamp. We are able to use our marriage certificate in India. There is no other registration process.
