April 26, 2025 at 9:26 amSo recently my car got into an accident and the damage is severe. I took it to the showroom to get it repaired. When applied for insurance claim, I was asked to call my father. But my father passed away 5 months back and I couldn’t transfer the ownership of the car since it’s under loan and I am paying monthly EMI. Now, the surveyor is saying this claim won’t be considered and if I want to avail the benefits of the insurance in future, I need to transfer the ownership of the vehicle. Any solution for this? -

April 26, 2025 at 11:07 pmWhy didn’t you get it transferred to your name when the EMI is being borne by you? I don’t think the surveyor is in the wrong here, because the claim process requires the signature of the owner of the car. There’s no legal way around it. Unethical way will be to get the car transferred to your name. And get new insurance done via an online process, and then claim it saying that the accident was recent. Wait for atleast a month to claim the insurance to ward off any doubts. Keep the car clean in the meantime.
