UAlso, it is taking a toll on my mental health as i already have anxiety issues. I have my UPSC exam in may and every year right before my exams he does something like this, like last year entered my house and bet me. also i fear anything escalating because he is a loud mouth who has been maligning my image in the whole city. He has been assassinating my character in every form he could.

VOp ig the only thing that can save you is recording the incident and putting it on social media or else there is no legal way

AAssuming you’re a woman. Our country has very strict laws. No matter if he’s a IPS those laws apply to him aswell. Get a good lawyer and file a case. Atleast his next promotions will definitely get affected.

UYou believe filing a case is the only solution? Because this is blatant defamation. None of my friends are talking to me because they have been threatened by him to stay away from me.
And above all this guy even got married 2 months back yet he is harassing me.-

CSister, he’s done or is actively doing everything he can or could. From defamation to physical violence to further threat of violence. People shut other people up by threatening to malign their reputation. This guy has done everything and more. What else is left to fear? The fact that you have taken all this abuse is what is enabling him. Where do you think all this is going to stop? I believe because of your state of mind, you have forgotten that he’s got a lot more to lose. His job, reputation,.marriage. Even if it comes to nothing, take a stand for yourself. If you can afford to then go to a good, reputed lawyer and file charges against him. You need to bring this abuse on the record. Don’t take this lying down. Don’t let this turn into a tragedy. Fight for yourself. No one else can do that for you.

VI am not a lawyer but no way you can fight with IPS in our corrupt country until you have a strong political connection try to change the city and number and collect evidence. And try to reach NCW if they can help still i am doubtful

UThats the issue, he takes me call data records, contacts all those family friends and abuses them and maligns my image, even threatens to arrest all of us. My life has become a living hell.

VFamily will understand idk how financially strong you are but maybe try to leave the city and make new friends change your number . Install cameras in your home. Tweet about it and ask NCW for help but before that youll need evidence

UWill this hamper my exam? Because i am so disturbed how do i even focus. Infact this guy has told me that he wont let me clear this exam by mentally harassing me.

CLol if I were you I would compile a recording and threaten ips back with a media trial. You have no idea how much officers are afraid of a media trial + media loves stuff like this .

CHn seekh lunga tu kaam kr apna . Police ki vardi dekh kr mootne lgta hoga isliye advice kr rha hai OP ko ki dab jaa. Indian police bhi citizen hi hai . Koi bhagwan nhi hai ,my own father just retired and I went to his office . Many of his colleagues were talking about how my father is not corrupt even though it’s easily a corruptible dept. and how corruption is very risky these days compared to earlier as many of the recruits got suspended due to recordings .

CBilla khao iska. I am assuming he is not married; go through all the correct procedures of filling FIR with evidence, do a media trial as well. Otherwise they wont do a proper investigation and just bury it. Which state is this?

VI had come across a case where girl(my own cousin) had ghosted her boyfriend. She had broken up without giving any reason. When the boy tried to contact her through various ways, like calling her friends, family or reaching out to her home, she called it as abuse, harrasment and complained to police. Later, it was known that she was dating another man who was earning more and she wanted to dump the old guy. As her parents where in a different city, we had to go and apologize in police station to save the girl from charges for false accusation. That’s why, with all due respect, first show the evidence for harassment. If at all you have then go public, post them on this very forum, it will go viral and you will get justice. But if you think there are mistakes from both sides, then please settle it mutually

UHaan haan fake hoti to anonymous hoke post karti, koi personal vendetta hota to naam tak reveal kar deti. I am genuinely harassed. This guy and hus parents including his sister have abused me in 4 years of relationship. He told me everything will b fine but nothing was fine because he has been talking shit about me publicly

UCollect all the evidence. Go to your state’s women’s organisation and with them to go to commissioner of the city and complain.

SSubmit a written complaint to local PS. When you get a copy forward id to DGP of the state he is posted, also write a mail with all documents to Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India. I’m sure this will be enough to knock some sense into him. He has a long career ahead and no Civil servant wants to get an internal enquiry initiated against them , it will impact his service record , which will result in severe issues throughout his career. Don’t think IPS or IAS is some kinda demi god as portrayed by movies/media , they too have competitors inside the system who will use this case to devoid him of any good future opportunities.
All this will work if he is of sane mind, which i highly doubt , Civil servants go extra mile to avoid any controversy in their career. Trust me i have civil servants in my family and they go extra mile to avoid limelight.

USpeak to a lawyer, these are your options:
1. Get a restraining order against him
2. Do a complain in women’s cell
3. Meet his superiors and complain
For all of this you will need proof because ips are public servants and sanction is required to proceed against them from the department. If all of this doesn’t work then you do a criminal case, I am not suggesting a criminal case to begin with because he’s a police officer and will definitely be able to manipulate investigation. -
