Yes technically it’s illegal and if a cop is having a bad day he can fine you (they don’t generally)

Illegal, rarely enforced (almost never) for four wheelers, more commonly enforced for two wheelers. Children are not counted as extra passengers.

What is the nature of the short trip and number of extra passengers? For the sake of comfort it is best to not exceed capacity.

Yes, it is illegal.

Plus insurance company can refuse to entertain claims in case of accident. Not worth it.

It’s illegal and u might get Challan. But if it’s government vehicle or bus then it’s ok to carry more passengers than numbers of seat mentioned in RC.
Rule apply to common man only. I seen government bus has 2x passangers and police won’t fine them
