March 6, 2025 at 10:36 pmI am a 2024 passout of a tier 2 college. I got a campus offer in the beginning of placement yr itself. Later, on I got to know it was a internship+ performance based ppo offer. But I couldn’t do anything or sit for on campus placements( just tier 2, 3 college things I guess). Later, on I joined the company and converted the ppo. BUT here’s the twist, the hr told me there was a hiring freeze and hence, they cannot hire me on payroll. They would hire me as a contract employee and will make a FTE once the hiring freeze is over. But it was all a scam, a scam to go to best of pvt and govt colleges such as Manipal, VIT, PEC etc and hire interns and when they don’t have any option hire them on contract. The company I’m talking about is a US home appliances company with a ring in its logo. A so-called MNC who, lies about ctc, told us 10.5 lpa and on joining said ctc is 8.5 and other 2 lakhs is retention bonus. A cheap ass company who has now sold our department to ACN and is removing us after 8 months. Is it fair or ethical or a normal practice in corporate to hire campus students on contract?? Or is my case an exception? Anything I could do about this. The company has given me nothing but mental trauma since I joined. I feel because of this company’s unethical practices my career began as a contract employee and I would want to do something about this! -
