February 8, 2025 at 7:39 amToday morning, I was travelling on Delhi to Jaipur highway for work. It was mostly an empty route, and I did not realise that I went above the speed limit. However, this has happened a few times before(and there were a few people with much higher speed, but this is the first time I have received a notice. I have also checked on websites, there are some which claim it to be a fake/scam. Also, I am not sure what action to be taken and currently there is no one in my touch who can advise me on this, no immediate/no extended family. Hence, resorted to Reddit. Also, I do not understand that why if they have already asked for the fine, do they require other information? When I try to pay online, it does not let me.
For context, the car is registered under my sisterβs name and is a 5 year old car with 1 challan till date. Along with this, when I visit the official Parivahan website for checking the challan, it only shows one which was already paid, and this one does not appear under the existing ones.
Can someone please clarify if this is legit, and if it is, what is the correct procedure when should follow?

February 8, 2025 at 7:45 amLawyer here from Delhi. This is probably not a scam if it came through sms and the vehicle number seems correct to you. However you shouldn’t worry. It could be resolved pretty easily.-
