I have a cousin whoโ€™d friend works at a very famous school in Mumbai. The school was started by a couple (who are very old now) They are the head of school (Madam and Sir) and are always keeping eye on everything.
At first โ€ฆit was nice and she was enjoying the work but recently there has been some real wierd things. But last week was the wierdest shit to happen.

A (mid level senior) teacher was teaching in class while Sir was on round. He entered the class and over some stupid matter (not the teachers fault at all) โ€ฆinsulted the teacher in front of the entire class of students. Also asked her to meet him in his office later with the entire team.

Then (later in his office) he insulted her infront of her entire team including her juniors and seniors. He gave personal remarks about how she is paid salary to do work. She started to cry and thats when he threatened to slap her (INFRONT IF HER TEAM)

Is this normal work culture for schools in India?
        Is it even legal?
What steps to be taken if facing a situation like this?

Indian workplace is the most toxic in the whole world. Its sad. People here have too much ego and pride.

While common, this is not acceptable. Unless she was texting/ using cell phone instead of teaching, this is not justified.
If some students were being stupid, it is not her fault either.
I would normally insult the person back in such a scenario.

My girlfriend is a teacher, and she just quits if the workplace is toxic.

I am sure this entitled uncle and his wife leaves alone as their children must have left them.

Let us judge if it was a stupid matter or not

Doesnโ€™t matter what the issue was such workplace behaviour is unacceptable. If the head was so much dissatisfied with the teacher he should have just fired her

Of course the behaviour is unacceptable and he should be punished for that. Butttt just brushing past the issue is very dishonest because it is the most important details.

Not at all, this is not normal in school nor in offices. Happens though.
