Just received “Show Cause Notice” from chennai RTO. What should I do? Help

Due to a signal violation I paid a fine of Rs.500 on spot on the month of november. Today I received a show cause notice from chennai RTO with the below message with the challan number mentioned in the letter.

Seems they want an explanation on what happened or they might temp ban my licence.

“The reply must reach the undersigned within 10 days from the date of receipt of this letter, failing which ex parte decision will be taken accordingly. The personal hearing on your reply shall be provided to you by the undersigned.”

What should I do now?

WTH, you paid your fine and then after months they come back with this cryptic stuff? Do they think others are jobless or can hore lawyers just like that.

Do you have the receipt of the fine in your possession?

Share the whole allegations levelled against you in the notice, for which they are seeking a reply. Then only we can suggest an appropriate course of action.

This happened to me. They sent me a letter after the date of the showcase was over. I was in panik mode I mailed rto asap. Then I went to meet him. He said write a letter stating what happened and it won’t happen again. One other person was beside me and he was not lucky enough his licenses got suspended for 3 months. Don’t worry, be apologic and you will be ok.

Off late I’m hearing a lot of people are getting their licenses suspended for red light violation. Rightfully so but you don’t know this until they hit you with a letter.

Don’t jump red lights but if you get caught doing it, probably ask them for some other violation fine. Don’t bribe lol
