My father wants to sell a plot of land, but there’s an issue with the land records. In the 1970 patta, my grandfather’s name is incorrectly recorded, whereas it is correct in the 1968 patta. Due to the transfer of records between district offices, we only have a copy of the 1968 patta and not the original. There’s a very slight chance the original might still be in the old district office. Both pattas correctly list my great-grandfather’s name.
Currently, someone is occupying our part of the land and claiming that since the 1970 patta has my grandfather’s name wrong, the land does not belong to us.
What steps can we take to resolve this issue?
