May 6, 2025 at 3:46 pmI had to leave the premises on short notice. I didn’t serve the “one month” notice , but the houseowner found another tenant. Requested her to return the deposit since I don’t have a job and had to move back to hometown for an emergency. She rejected my request and disconnected the call while I was speaking. The broker who charged me the brokerage wouldn’t even mediate , he said it’s between me and the house owner. Kindly advise. -

May 6, 2025 at 3:51 pmI don’t see any reason to return your deposit. Those are terms of tenancy.-

May 6, 2025 at 4:34 pmAll the land lady (henceforth landy) owes you, is politeness. She shouldn’t have disconnected the call without explaining to you why she’s not liable to return the security deposit. That’s a bit rude on her part. -

May 6, 2025 at 5:07 pmSo, youโve chosen to vacate without serving the required notice, yet seem rather reluctant to accept responsibility for that oversight. And now, you appear online with a rather convenient tale โ no job and a sudden emergency back home. Curious, indeed.
Do you truly take your fellow Redditors for fools?
