Living in a rented flat for past 5 years, landlord now is asking for aadhar copy of everyone living in the flat. New rent agreement is being made as the rent have increased, can landlord asking for everyone’s aadhar copy? Is it safe to give everyone’s aadhar copy?

give them aadhar with VID. ideally not every org/institution can ask for aadhaar bcz it the collecting entity has to ensure the safety of data. But this is India.

Every bank employee etc. would have your aadhaar details. Doesn’t matter IMO. Just keep your biometrics locked

Genrally for rent agreement goverment id proof required
Addhar you may opt for masked addhar
Also for additional use you are strick down in written like this is use for rent agreement for xyz flat and no other use. Addional to that you can add expiry date

Genrally I give addhar in this way when ever i need to provide even banks accept it

adhar website or digi locker , when you download adhar card it’ll ask you if u want masked or normal

If he says no, you better believe that he’s either up to something shady, or is drafting the agreement unfairly lopsided favouring his rights over yours. Best case, leave. If you can’t, record everything. Ask for a copy. Be prepared to fight for your security money.

Yes, you will need to provide it. It will be one of the documents attached with the rent agreement. Plus, both your and your landlord’s aadhar card will be required at the time of registration of the agreement if your state laws require compulsory registration of rent agreements.

Give him an Aadhar copy but clearly write, “This document is submitted only for the purpose of Tenant verification.”

Also, ask your landlord to either acknowledge receipt of Aadhar copy in writing or mention it in the rental agreement.
