Lawyer is quoting absurd amounts after the conclusion of a quashing petition. Is there a lawyer here willing to confer and tell me if this is legitimate?
Is there any legal risk if I reject his invoices?

There was an initial discussion of amounts and weโ€™ve already paid a little more than that to him. He says that thereโ€™s been way more effort than they imagined and itโ€™s taken longer than they thought it would.
        Thanks in advance!

Yeah, Iโ€™d rather not do that. Itโ€™s taken me ages to get out of a legal mess in the first place. Just wanted friendly advice on how to tackle this. It sort of feels a little like extortion now.

Iโ€™m striving for that but the amounts Iโ€™ve been given are double what we had discussed. The fees were extremely steep in the first place.

                  Calmly say,
First, that you cannot afford to pay that much bill.
Then pay whatever you discussed earlier.

                  If it fails…
Then say him, that this was the amount we discussed, so I can pay that only..

If the case is still pending, ask for NOC.

Lawyer here// – donโ€™t pay. Tell him about your connections ๐Ÿ‘ or that you simply canโ€™t afford
