So I recently turned 18 and went ahead to get a new number from jio. All fine and good except the fact that the previous owner of this number owed money to Lazypay.

Every month, I get this notice-“Your LazyPay outstanding of Rs. 980.10 is due for payment today. Pay now using https://lazypay.in/”

I tried deleting the account, called their customer care, mailed them. Did everything, but no, I have to and in their words, “Must Pay, no matter what”

        Thank you for your time.

Bhosdiwale ko bolo ghar aake lele pese. Whenever they call start abusing them. And just ignore SMS. Never install app and never give it storage permission. You harass them back.

Make sure you get a different number and discard this. You probably don’t have PAN yet. Don’t link this number to your PAN and aadhaar. Why complicate things for yourself.

And don’t worry, you don’t owe any money to Lazypay since you aren’t even in the CIBIL system yet.

                NAL

Register for FULL DND and then report every single spam (including all LazyPay) call for a month. You have to receive the call to report it for DND violations. Make sure you answer the call for 5-10 seconds, this is needed for the violation report.

Blocking numbers isnโ€™t going work. When a ton of us report these guys on DND they numbers get de-registered and this is the only way we can have peace.

Did I stumble into a FAFO sub? What sort of advice is this on a legal sub?

Give them a random address to come and collect the money.

Once the recovery agent calls u back saying I have reached, start abusing him ..

Do this a few times and they will stop calling

They won’t send a collection agent for 900 bucks

Since you are not responsible for the previous owner’s debt, LazyPay has no legal grounds to demand payment from you. Hereโ€™s what you can do to stop the harassment:

                            1. File a Formal Complaint with LazyPay Send a written complaint via email to their official customer support (contact@lazypay.in) stating: You are not the debtor. You recently acquired this phone number. You demand they cease all communications under consumer protection laws. Attach proof, such as your Jio number activation date. 2. Register a Complaint with RBI & Consumer Forums RBI Ombudsman: Since LazyPay is a financial service, file a complaint via RBI Ombudsman Portal. Consumer Forum: File a complaint at National Consumer Helpline (NCH). 3. Block & Report the Harassment Block LazyPayโ€™s SMS numbers. If calls continue, file a complaint with TRAI via Do Not Disturb (DND). 4. Legal Action (If Harassment Persists) Send a legal notice through a lawyer. If they threaten you, file a police complaint for harassment.

If your KYC isn’t done, absolutely nothing will happen to you. 980 bucks is something all credit/BNPL companies write of frequently without a second thought. Ignore these automated messages
