Over the course of last 2-3 years I (M25) have financially helped a friend (F23) of mine on multiple occasions, total amount counts to over 45k. Which then I thought were genuine like – helping her mom dad shift in the city, pay due rents and help her father’s hospital expense and miscellaneous stuff. Later on most of the things i thought were a lie to just get money from me because whenever i asked her something like bills or screenshots she refused saying i trust her. She was going to repay me and we planned a holiday together for that too she took advance from me to do the bookings and all but that too turned out be sham and she said she couldn’t do it because of some emergency from her family.

Now I’m totally fed up and just want to get my money, she kept taking advantage of my kindness and the fact that I wont ask her mom or dad because we might be having some family relations from older generation which I really dont care about. Her brother seems to be a gunda types person. Violence is not an option to get the money.

I just need an opinion how I could get my money out with a subtle move not so outrageous but on point. I dont have a lawyer. Thanks

This is the only advice for your situation, you will need to escalate your situation with legalities etc in order to get your money back. Goodluck

The correct advice is this, don’t let anyone take advantage of you regardless of gender. Always be civil.

Send her a legal notice. Do you have evidence of giving her the money?

Then you are good to take legal action against her. Start by sending her a legal notice.

A lawyer here. You have the remedy to approach a civil court to get the money back. Send a legal notice first and demand the total amount. If she pays you, no need to approach the court. Otherwise, you can file a civil suit for recovery showing the amount given as hand loan.

How did you lend her money? Via bank transfer or cash?

I sent it on Gpay have screenshots of that and all her whatsapp texts asking for money. What could be the consequence of a legal notice, how will that affect me?

You have enough evidence. Your bank statements as well as text messages should be enough. A legal notice is usually mandatory before proceeding before a court of law. Generally, the fear of court proceedings comples the defaulting party to clear the dues.

It will not affect you in any way but if she pays you on a notice, you’ll save up a lot towards court and advocate fees for filing a suit.

Akkal khaate jamaa karo 45k and uske aage narration likho – Being for Tution fee to learn how not be made a Chutiya in Future by emotional atyachar.

Then do a contra entry against it with narration – Written off for ever. Never to be recovered. Bad Debt.

The correct advice is : let the money to and think it’s charity. You will be more rich after sometime. Trust me karma works.
