February 10, 2025 at 5:04 pmAt 7th Jan I have given one month notice to the owner that I will vacate the flat on 1st feb. The agreement says one month notice period and nothing like calendar month or short notice period which the owner is saying. So, I vacated the flat and owner has deduced the money for 7 days saying that itβs a short notice which I donβt understand. I want to take legal action against this owner. Any suggestions on what to do? -

February 10, 2025 at 5:14 pmOne month from Jan 7 is Feb 6, so you did give less notice than one month. I don’t see your point.Β-

February 10, 2025 at 5:31 pmOwner is saying notice period is like calendar month from 1st Jan to 31st Jan which is not mentioned in agreement only one month notice period is mentioned. I gave notice on 7th Jan and vacated flat on 1st Feb. A new tenant moved in on 1st Feb and staying there. So basically both of us are paying for the same property.-

February 11, 2025 at 6:04 amThere is no concept of calendar month notice, 30 days should be fine as per agreement.ΒIt is not ethical for owner to get rent from both parties. But you are bound by terms of agreement.Β Your 30 day notice ends Feb 6. I hope owner is not cutting full Feb rent. You can’t do much if he cuts rent till Feb 6
