February 7, 2025 at 1:25 pmI have a few questions regarding dashcams in India1) Is it totally legal to record all kind of footages in a public place, or are there any caveats?
2) Are they admissable in the courts, as a form of evidence?
3) Can we upload them on social media platforms, such as twitter and reddit, in order to sway public opinion regarding the incident?

February 7, 2025 at 1:31 pmThe rule in India is, if you have enough money to throw in a cop or politician’s face – everything is legal for you.ย Otherwise the police can put you in jail even for breathing.-

February 7, 2025 at 1:37 pmOk, I bet you didn’t know that there is a nexus of corrupt Judges-Police-Lawyers who entrap innocent people then extract as much money from them as they can.The entire Indian Judicial system is one BIG scam.ย

February 7, 2025 at 2:04 pmOn the contrary, I think it’s the most helpful reply.ยIndia is not a country of rules. It’s a country where anything goes, if you have the money to throw around.

February 7, 2025 at 3:01 pmI have been asking the wrong question all this while “Why police in India don’t wear body cams?”, when I should have been asking “Why am I not wearing a body cam when I am on Indian streets?”-

February 7, 2025 at 3:21 pmI have a clip of police asking for 1 lac bribe from me. My lawyer told me I can’t use it in court because in India if you’re recording someone, you need their consent.ย-

February 7, 2025 at 3:44 pmWhy can’t we challenge that? Perhaps another lawyer’s council is needed, or even approach media to show institutional corruption.

February 7, 2025 at 2:11 pm1.Yes, you can record the footage anywhere your car can go with dashcam2.Its legal and helps in police investigation if u have video footage when required
3.There are many videos on youtube and other SM of accidents.
CCTVs and dashcams are considered as evidence if available

February 7, 2025 at 2:17 pm>3) There are many videos on youtube and other SM of accidents.Well the thing is, just because it exists, doesn’t mean that it’s legal. Most of those videos on youtube aren’t uploaded by the owner, but by media portals and other concerned citizens. So we don’t know for sure if the owner of the vehicle faced any consequences regarding that.

February 7, 2025 at 4:06 pmEvidence act is for saving culprits even it says evidence act and apex courts judgement above it act 2008…Parliament doesn’t do because of politician good are culprits, why there are CCTV in every private or public building, ATM, banks etc…
Yes but even it is no illegal…
Recording someone is also covered IT act 2008 and women and child safety for punishing pornography.
So we have to read internet.
You can’t argue legal or illegal as it will depend on many acts, apex court judgement..
I am also reading other people comments to clear the illegality doubt

February 8, 2025 at 5:29 amPrivacy laws here are a joke. I feel germany has it right, you cannot upload videos of people going about their day without hiding identities(faces, number plates). You can use it as evidence in courts, but the law is there so that you cannot publicly upload it hoping it goes viral and jobless people will dox the person and harass them. Which is exactly what people here do with number plates, they misuse state resources to attack people they declare as in the wrong.
Even other countries have such jobless ppl, not saying itโs only an โusโ problem. And itโs very easy to edit footages to make the other person look bad and further strengthen the call for harassment towards them by such bad actors.

February 8, 2025 at 6:23 pmAs far as I know, there is no expectation of privacy in public spaces, and recording videos is generally allowed. However, recording audio without consent is illegal. If someone manipulates a video to misrepresent the events or create a false impression, the affected person has legal grounds to sue the uploader under Sections 499, 500, and 505 of the IPC.

February 7, 2025 at 4:13 pmproblem is like 90 crore individual are person who earn and eat daily…this 90 crore drop school in 2nd grade or 10 th grade ( see any election coverage by any channel)
Now very few like 5 to 25 crore are actual people who want nation to be like USA, China, Russia, singapore but we are less in number compared to huge 90 crore people who doesn’t have any aspiration other then voting for free beeies, lalu family, yadav, owaisi etc…
Corrupt officials target this 5 to 25 crore people for bribe in real estate, road travel, civil crime, criminal crime etc…
we 25 crore are divided in language fights, northbelt, south belt, religion…
that’s what I think why we failed to develop in last 25 years…
mean while this 90 crore take medical facilities, government aid…etc
Assumption based figure we are around 150+ …
I am talking about all from infant to older people….
Can be wrong we need strong numbers…
This daily wage worker also earn like 1 k per day…
