Cso today I was returning from my sister’s school after picking her up, when suddenly there was a XUV500 behind me constantly honking, since mine was an old car, I let it pass after a roundabout and after that they started break checking me to the point where I had to drive on 1st gear, after that I tried overtaking them and then they squeezed me to the side of the road and blocked my way by parking their car infront of me and a guy came out of the car looking pissed, he started banging on my window and was hurling abuses my way in Marathi, I remained calm as I did not want my sister to be hurt and that guy finally left but while leaving he punched my windshield with all his force and that cracked my windshield significantly. There was also a man in his 40s who seemed to be like the leader of the guy who attacked me. I asked them to atleast compensate me for my broken windshield, they continued hurling abuses my way and then sped off.

HI have faced this. When the guy was brake checking me, I stopped near the roadside took a breather and drank water and then resumed the way to the destination.
NAL, but I guess those people are linked with police and political people so nothing could be done.-

HNext time when someone is honking too much. Give the vehicle space, might be in an emergency or some goon.

QSorry to hear that brother. But these goons are getting out of hands and the police seems to be under their control. Even after getting caught they get bail in a few hours and all they would get is a slap on their wrist with some fine of couple of 1000s rupees! But once they get the bail they sure would hold a grudge and come for your and family’s life! Sad reality 🙁 of this country and its politics!

WI had a similar incident at the end of Covid time, I was returning back from the hospital and some guy overtook me at the signal and asked me to come out, I had my windows up and said for what then gestured him to go away. That chapri banged on my windscreen which cracked, I was too damn furious and hellbent to not let him get away. I got out, pulled his collar and said tere baap ki gaadi hai. His friends jumped out of the car, the crowd gathered while he was whacked a couple of times… a traffic cop suddenly appeared out of nowhere and took us to the station, where I made enough halla to say that he will have to spend time in jail unless he paid me 10k…to cut the story short, I ended up getting 8k and an apology infront of the entire station.
Not saying that’s what you should do but the bare minimum you could’ve done was to have taken pic/video and reported to the station with your car!

CI too would have done the same brother if I was alone or with my friends, but the thing is I was with my younger sister and on top of it not a local guy so for me her safety matters more than bashing that ah, secondly yes I have taken a pic of his number plate but I can not report it to the authorities as my cars insurance expired some time earlier. Although sad to hear that this type of hooliganism is so much prevalent in this beautiful country

WI was almost in the identical situation, the hospital visit I wrote about was to get my kid his vaccination, needless to say, had my wife with me as well holding him in the front seat, I was also a hindi speaker in a south indian state.
Infact what enraged me was that he could see that I was with family but still tried to bash the glass in…after all the ruckus even the police tried to tell me that I look educated and shouldn’t get into all this, he can create problems for me.
When I asked him what’s the process to file an attempt to murder case he realised I’m not going to back down…the chapri started complaining about chest pain and tootache as well, it was immensely soothing to tell you the truth
But I guess people react differently…fight or flight, I’m not sure what’ll be my reaction next time a situation like this comes up

If you have dashcam evidence you can proceed with filing complaint.What I do to deescalate the situation without engaging such stupid is to “Turn on indicator on second honk or flash”. That way they will be confused what to do next

ESo you have the number plate that means u can get the owner address. So remain calm and handle it after some days.
