AI am looking to buy a car whose owner recently passed away(RIP). He is survived by his wife only. What are things i need to do, to get the car in my name.
Following are the steps i am thinking.
1) Transfer the vechile in his wife’s name.
2) Post which i will pay and get the vechile transferred in my name.
Kindly advise here.

BThat’s the correct procedure. Insurance policy can also be done the same way. If the renewal period is near you can buy new policy if you want it easy.

BAsk the owner to inform insurance company to tranfer policy on her name using RC card. Then you do the same. You may not get zero dep policy. Its dependent on car model, age, whether zero dep is currently available in the policy or not. You can zero dep if the company provides.

DBut this way the number of owners will increase for you when you will sell the car. Wouldn’t a legal affidavit from the wife stating that she is the only surviving member and no one else got any financial interest in the car and she is selling to the OP would work

DDOnt have to do all that. just get it transferred in your name. take NOC from wife or any other sons or daughters. You dont need to transfer twice. transfer money online for proof
